Switching from FDM ABS filament to resin printing? You probably want something that behaves like real ABS: tough, impact-resistant, with a bit of flex. The problem is that "ABS-like" on a bottle tells you almost nothing. Some of these resins genuinely approximate ABS mechanical properties. Others are standard resin with a different label.
We went through every technical data sheet for the ABS-like resins in our database -- 20 resins from 8 manufacturers -- and compared them on the properties that matter: tensile strength, elongation at break, Izod impact resistance, shore hardness, flexural modulus, and price.

What makes a resin "ABS-like"?
Real ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) has three things going for it:
- Impact resistance. It does not shatter when you drop it.
- Toughness. High elongation means it bends before breaking.
- Moderate rigidity. Stiff enough for structural parts, but not brittle.
A good resin equivalent should have:
- Shore D hardness between 75 and 85
- Elongation at break above 15% (real ABS filament hits 20-35%)
- Tensile strength above 30 MPa
- Decent Izod impact numbers (this is the defining ABS characteristic)
- Flexural modulus in the 1000-2500 MPa range

The eSUN A200 is far ahead on tensile strength. At 68-83 MPa, it outclasses everything else on this list by a wide margin. Add 30-36% elongation and you get a strength-to-ductility balance that real ABS filament would be happy with.
The catch: it costs $59.90/kg, and its Izod impact rating (20-24 J/m) is surprisingly low for something called "ABS-like." This tells us the A200 prioritizes rigid strength over the impact absorption that makes real ABS useful.
Best for: Functional parts, brackets, and mechanical components where tensile strength matters more than drop survival.

At $19.99/kg, SUNLU's ABS-Like is the cheapest option here, and it does not cut every corner. Its 70 J/m Izod impact rating is solid (third-highest overall), and 25% elongation sits comfortably in ABS territory.
The weak point is tensile strength. At 28 MPa, it is the lowest in the lineup. For cosmetic parts, miniatures, and non-load-bearing prints, that is fine. For functional parts under stress, look elsewhere.
Best for: Budget-conscious hobbyists, miniature painting, and cosmetic prints where impact resistance matters more than raw tensile strength.

The Izod impact rating on this one is 120 J/m. That is nearly double the next-best resin, and it is the closest any resin here gets to replicating real ABS's "drop it and it survives" quality. The water-washable formulation is a bonus -- no IPA needed for cleaning.
Same trade-off as the standard SUNLU though: low tensile strength (26 MPa) and the lowest flexural modulus on the list (956 MPa), so parts will flex noticeably under load.
Best for: Parts that need to take a hit -- drone bodies, RC car components, cases, anything that might get dropped.

Siraya Tech's Fast Tough hits 40% elongation -- the second-highest in the lineup -- with a reasonable 32 MPa tensile strength and solid 1400 MPa flexural modulus. Izod impact at 39 J/m is middling, but the combination of high elongation and moderate stiffness makes this the most balanced "feels like ABS" resin we tested.
Siraya Tech is also the most popular brand in the resin printing community, so there are plenty of community-validated print settings available online.
Best for: General-purpose functional printing where you want the most ABS-like feel -- parts that flex slightly under stress and return to shape.

The HARZ Labs Industrial ABS V2 is the hardest resin in the lineup at 85D, with strong tensile performance (47 MPa) and a flexural modulus (1450 MPa) that matches Siraya Tech. At $86/kg it is the most expensive option by far, and it is clearly aimed at professional and industrial users.
The missing Izod data is a concern for a resin marketed as "ABS-like" -- impact resistance is kind of the whole point of ABS. But the mechanical specs suggest this is a serious engineering material.
Best for: Industrial applications, jigs, fixtures, and professional prototyping where hardness and dimensional accuracy matter.

What the data tells us
"ABS-like" is loosely defined
The spread between the strongest resin (eSUN A200 at 83 MPa) and the weakest (SUNLU at 26 MPa) is a 3x difference. Shore hardness ranges from 71D (FormFutura) to 85D (HARZ Labs). Elongation ranges from 5% (Creality 2.0) to 50% (Anycubic Pro 2).
Some of these resins barely qualify as "ABS-like" when you look at the mechanical data. If matching real ABS performance is your goal, prioritize elongation above 20% and Izod impact above 40 J/m.
Impact resistance varies wildly
Izod impact data was the most inconsistent property across manufacturers. Values go from 20 J/m (eSUN OdorLite, eSUN A200) all the way up to 120 J/m (SUNLU Water Wash). That is a 6x difference.
Several manufacturers (Anycubic, HARZ Labs, FormFutura) do not publish Izod data at all, which is odd for products marketed around ABS-like properties. The resins with the best documented impact resistance are all from SUNLU.
Price does not predict performance
The cheapest resin (SUNLU at $19.99) has better impact resistance than the most expensive one (HARZ Labs at $86.11). The mid-range Siraya Tech Fast Tough ($32.19) offers the best overall toughness balance. Price correlates more with brand positioning and target market than with actual mechanical performance.
The elongation sweet spot
The resins that feel most like real ABS filament have elongation at break between 25% and 40%. Below 15% feels brittle. Above 40% starts feeling rubbery. The standouts in this range:

Where manufacturers publish ranges (e.g. "40-50 MPa"), both values are shown. ASTM test standards vary by manufacturer, so direct comparisons should be treated as indicative rather than definitive.
All resins were tested under their manufacturers' recommended exposure and post-cure conditions. Results may vary based on printer calibration, layer height, and post-cure protocol.
